The iPad can be a lot of things to a lot of people. One of the main things that it promises is to eventually replace pad and paper as a means of information collection. You could use the Apple Notes program that comes with the iPad, but that is not much of a long form note taking program as much as it is for short quick reminders. I just received my iPad 3G today after selling my Wifi a few weeks back. It has been a hard time and I missed the iPad very much, but after playing with it today, it was well worth the wait.
